SPOOM Mid-Atlantic Chapter Meeting
The Spring gathering of the SPOOM Mid-Atlantic Chapter will be on March 27,28, 2009 at the Union Mills Homestead in Carroll County, Maryland.
There will be two optional events on Friday 3/27 beginning at 9 AM at Union Mills. (Beverages, pastries, and fruit will be available between 8 and 9.)
Arrangements will be made with a local restaurant near Union Mills, for those who would like to gather for supper.
On Saturday 3/28, the second
floor of the Shriver Mill will be the site for the day’s
activities. Your customary $5 donation at registration will
cover lunch costs; with residual going to the Chapter
treasury. Pastries, fruit and beverages will be available
between 8 and 9 AM. There will be an agenda available for
the business meeting which starts at 9. There will be time
following the business meeting for a roundtable discussion
led by Judy Grove on the proposed approach to developing the
2011 bi-centennial celebration of Mid-Atlantic milling. Lunch will be ready at noon, immediately followed by our speaker, Chapter member Christopher Gillis, who will discuss his newly published book, Wind Power. Finally, a round-table discussion will provide you an opportunity to discuss any mill related topic. Feel free to roam through the mill whenever you have spare time. We will produce stone-ground whole wheat flour while you are visiting.

Union Mills is located in Carroll County, Maryland, 7 miles north of Westminster on MD Route 97.
